THE GROUND WE ARE LOSING

A book in progress

This book begins with a simple, unsettling recognition: something essential is slipping beneath our feet—and most of us can feel it, even if we cannot yet name it. The Ground We Are Losing is a spiritual field guide for staying human in an age of intelligent machines, accelerated lives, and thinning attention. It does not argue against technology, nor does it retreat into nostalgia. Instead, it traces what has quietly eroded: embodied presence, lived meaning, shared rituals, patience, and the human capacity to feel at home in the world.

Drawing from walking practices, design work, ritual experiments, grief encounters, and everyday acts of care, this book gathers stories and practices that restore contact with what still holds—body, breath, place, memory, and relationship. It asks not only what are we gaining, but what are we losing while we gain it. It pierces through the myths we hold about AI to discover that they are myths, dangerous myths about ourselves!

This is not a book of answers. It is a book of bearings.

Written for designers, builders, parents, artists, technologists, elders, and anyone who senses that speed has outpaced wisdom, The Ground We Are Losing offers ways to slow without stopping, to act without hardening, and to stand responsibly inside the moment we are living through.

Not someday.

Now.
